The challenge
Spring 2020. Larchmont’s shops were closed, and a small group of residents had to raise relief fast.
The brief
Give neighbors a reason to give, and something beautiful to keep for it.
The result

One Larchmont is a volunteer nonprofit in Larchmont, New York. When the shutdown closed the village’s shops, it set out to raise relief fast, then restore the business districts for good.
01 · Project overview
It takes a village.
One Larchmont is a resident-led nonprofit restoring the village’s business districts.
It works with the Village on Palmer and Post: storefronts, signs, street furniture and the merchants behind them. It began in spring 2020 as shutdown relief, run by volunteers. They needed a way to ask neighbors for help, then a brand and campaign for years of restoration.
02 · The opportunity
Give people something to keep.
A donation button asks a lot and gives little back.
People give more gladly to a place they love when they get a piece of it to keep. So the thank-you became the campaign: a map of the village, a plaque on a dining dome, your name on a restored building.
03 · The map and the seal
A village switching its lights back on.
We drew Larchmont at night, and it became the donor gift.
A navy ground, slate streets, and buildings and street lamps in map gold, as wallpaper, a framed print and goods. The nonprofit’s mark is a seal reading preserving our future. For the avenue we wrote a sign standard, from brass letters to window clings.

04 · The website
Adopt a piece of Larchmont.
The Restoration Campaign site, built in Webflow, tells the story plainly.
Two business districts, one Larchmont. Residents can adopt one of 17 buildings, or a bench, a bin or a planter, each with a page that shows when it is sponsored. Gifts are laid out by level, and codes on the street lead back.
05 · The campaign
From the inbox to the avenue.
A six-email series walks a new supporter from the roadmap to a letter asking for help.
Along the way come the problem, a story and an answer to the obvious objection. Social posts carried each restored storefront, before and after. Two posters brought the plan to the campaign’s launch in April 2022.

A brand and a sign standard that make every restored storefront part of one place.
